Saving Time: Database administrators will find that SchemaResearch
ETL tools save them both development time and execution time on these common DBA tasks.
Archiving Data:
A common DBA responsibility is to
see that reliable, highly available data archives
are created on a regular basis. SR·Archive provides
the simplest method for doing this, allowing the
DBA to develop scripts that archive all or part of
the target database. Archives are human readable
so if archived data needs to be checked, it is
not necessary to load it into a database.
Archived data can be created in a variety of
formats, including XML, to make analysis and
exchange of archives even simpler.
Updating Schemas:
As business requirements
evolve, database schemas also evolve. Moving
data to a new database can be a tricky task,
SR·Transport provides tools that help move
the data and transform it to meet the needs
of the new schema. Logs are created so that
detailed records of the move are available
for audit.
Data Interchange.
Incoming data often
needs to be distributed to a variety of data
stores: data marts for simplified reporting,
data archives for long term analysis and so on.
SR·Agent can be used to accomplish this automatically
by setting up listeners which can move data to
appropriate targets. This avoids elaborate
custom daemons written for the purpose.
